Road Bike Routes

Hunterdon County is the premier destination for road cyclists both local and from other parts of the state and beyond. From the county’s winding back roads, quaint towns, villages, historic sites and scenic vistas, there are roads to ride for any level of ability and interest. Hunterdon County is known for its ridges; so, if it is hills you want then a ride up and over Lindbergh Road is in order. Stop by Lindberg’s home as you descend and take a moment to read the historical sign of the famous Lindberg baby kidnapping. Do you prefer flat and fast road cycling? Hunterdon County has mile after mile of beautiful farmland atop the plateau. Wide shoulders and gorgeous views are available to ride along the Delaware River as well. Whatever type of terrain, Hunterdon County offers it all.

Trail Bike Routes

Looking for a relaxing ride alongside the river that General Washington made famous during the Revolutionary War? Feeling the need to be a bit more solitary? The Capoolong Trail in Clinton along the babbling creek may be just what you are looking for. The Columbia Trail between High Bridge and Califon offers scenic vistas over the Ken Lockwood Gorge and the many fly fisherman standing thigh deep in the cold waters,  and offers a bit of old world nostalgia as you enter Califon. These trails are perfect for the rider who prefers a hybrid bike, gravel bike, cyclocross bike or mountain bike.

Mountain Bike Routes

Hunterdon County has some of the best kept mountain biking secrets. Newly constructed, The Nassau Trail offers mountain biking at its finest and offers trails for the beginner looking to get a feel for switchbacks to the most advanced rider looking to conquer ledges, rock gardens and steep climbs. Round Valley Reservoir is for the more intermediate and advanced mountain biker looking to ride long challenging hills, traverse rocks, routes and logs.
