A new “Bicycle Rack Loaner Program” is being offered by goHunterdon to increase bicycle parking within Hunterdon County. The program is part of goHunterdon’s “Bike Hunterdon” initiative to promote bicycling and bicycle tourism.
goHunterdon has purchased several small bicycle racks that are made available to local businesses, restaurants, and tourist attractions. Recipients may borrow a rack for up to one month to gauge interest in prior to purchasing their own bicycle rack. At some locations, racks are geared toward employee use. In other cases, the racks are a convenience for bicycle tourists and local visitors.
Loaner racks are currently in place at Delizia Pizza, HealthQuest Fitness, and the Hunterdon Land Trust Farmers Market in Raritan Township as well as the The Red Mill, Town of Clinton.
“Providing a bicycle rack is a simple way for a business to acknowledge that bicyclists are welcome, whether to serve employees or tourists,” says Caryl Harris, goHunterdon Bicycle Specialist. “Participants in the program have been surprised to see how quickly the rack gets used once it is delivered.”
