Stockton Borough School’s Last Ride

For the past ten years, HART has conducted an annual bicycle rodeo 3rd and 4th graders at Stockton Borough School. The bicycle rodeo teaches students how to properly fit a helmet, how to perform an ABC Quick Check before riding, and tests students on bicycle skills through a series of obstacles and finally discusses tow path etiquette.

A unique component to Stockton’s bicycle rodeo is that following the rodeo, students, faculty and HART staff all have the opportunity to test out their new knowledge and skills together on a ride along the D&R Canal Tow Path. The three and half mile ride concludes at Bull’s Island State Park with a picnic lunch.

Stockton Borough School closed at the end of this school year, making this year’s ride bittersweet. However, many Stockton students will be attending Lambertville Public School for the 2018-2019 school year. Lambertville Public School has expressed interest in HART bringing the Stockton Borough School bicycle rodeo/ride tradition to Lambertville. A rodeo/ride is tentatively scheduled for next Spring.
