Students Navigate a Better Way to Get to School: Hunterdon County Walk/Bike to School Week 2018

The 5th annual Hunterdon County Walk/Bike to School Week was held from April 16- 20, 2018, serving as the official launch of the spring walking season and the “reactivation” of regularly scheduled “walking school buses” at 13 Hunterdon elementary and middle schools.  The theme for this year’s event was “Navigating a Better Way to School”.   More than 500 students participated and received a colorful compass to hang on their backpack upon their arrival to school.

A highlight of the event is the friendly “Golden Sneaker Award” competition to determine which school has the largest percentage of students walking to school. This year, the “Golden Spoke” Award was introduced as well to count the number of students bicycling to school.
