Pedestrian Signs Keep Safety Law Visible

New Jersey law, N.J.S.A. 39:4-26, requires that motorists “Stop and Stay Stopped” for pedestrians in marked crosswalks.  A sign program provided by goHunterdon to local municipalities helps to keep this law highly visible to motorists traveling in Hunterdon’s walkable communities.

goHunterdon leverages funds received from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic to purchase and maintain in-street pedestrian signs. Municipalities or schools may request signs or the parts needed to refurbish signs that may have been damaged. If signs are hit, they can crack, have scrapes, or become separated from the base.

Since 2016, goHunterdon has provided thirty six (36) signs or parts to rehabilitate existing signs, to fourteen (14) Hunterdon municipalities/schools. They include Bloomsbury Borough, Califon Borough, Town of Clinton, Delaware Township, East Amwell Township, Flemington Borough, Frenchtown Borough, Hampton Borough, High Bridge Borough, Lambertville City, Lebanon Borough, Milford Borough, Stockton Borough, and West Amwell Township.
